We are a small group of Quakers and Attenders from Munich and the surrounding area who meet twice a month. Our group is part of the German Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers).
For further information about the founding of the Society in the 17th century, about Quaker faith and practice as well as Quaker organisational structure in Germany, visit the website of the German Yearly Meeting (please note: this site is in German only). There you can also order various Quaker publications. Alternatively, you can find information about Quakers in English by visiting the website of the European and Middle East Section of the Friends World Committee for Consultation or the website of the British Yearly Meeting.
The meeting for worship is at the heart of Quaker practice. Our meetings are based on silence: a silence of waiting and listening. At each meeting, which normally lasts for an hour, we come together in silent worship and open ourselves up to an experience of the divine. This inner light, as we Quakers often refer to it, is the source from which we draw peace and strength as we endeavour to give practical witness to our religious convictions in our daily lives. Occasionally, the silence is broken if someone present feels called to say something which will deepen and enrich the worship. After the meeting, we usually take some time to share our thoughts or concerns with each other. Children are also most welcome at the meeting for worship.
The Munich Quakers meet every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month at 10:30 a.m. at:
Alt-Katholische Gemeinde München
Adalbertstraße 32 Rückgebäude (rear premises)
80799 Munich
Quaker meetings are open to all. If you would like to attend one of our meetings or would like more information about the Munich Group, please contact:
